What frequency is this sensor, and is it compatible with older GM vehicles?
A 433 MHz sensor, standard on most GM vehicles from ~2014–2021. It's electronically incompatible with older 315 MHz sensors — mismatching frequencies leaves the TPMS light permanently on.
Is it plug-and-play, or does it need programming?
The sensor arrives pre-programmed with its own ID, so no flashing is required. However, the vehicle's Body Control Module still needs a TPMS Relearn Procedure after install to recognize the new IDs and map them to each wheel position.
Installation best practices:
- Deflate the tire, remove the old sensor, and clean the rim seating surface for a proper gasket seal.
- Install the new sensor, seat the gasket flat, and torque the valve nut to 65–70 in-lbs (avoid overtightening).
- Mount the tire carefully — keep the sensor away from the machine's mounting arm to prevent breakage.
